Paws We Love Pet Sitting

What are the advantages of using a pet sitting service over boarding my pet?

Pet Sitting

Pets are very much like infants; they are happiest when surrounded by familiar’s sounds, sights and smells, and they require the consistency of a routine. Employing a pet sitting service to care for your pet in your own home greatly reduces your pet’s stress level by providing both the familiarity and consistency of routine he craves. With home pet care, there is no need to transport the pet, no loud and unfamiliar noises and minimal exposure to diseases like kennel cough or to the dangers of parasites from mixing with other animals.

Can you administer medications to my pet?

Our staff is fully qualified to administer medications of all sorts, including pills, liquids, drops, suppositories, injections and even subcutaneous fluids. The administration of these items involves a nominal surcharge. (See Services and Rates).

Aren’t your services expensive?

We offer several affordable services and packages, which are all customizable to meet your needs and the needs of your pets. See our Services & Rates page for specifics. Please keep in mind that the expense of the extra care you provide your pet now may result in fewer vet bills and fewer destroyed belongings later.

Why shouldn’t I just ask a friend to stop by and check on my pets?

We love our friends, but they can be awfully unreliable at times. Emergencies may crop up that force them to miss their appointed visit to your pet, and they don’t have the luxury of back-ups. Adolescents are not always reliable in the pet care realm, so the teenaged child of a neighbor won’t possess the maturity or knowledge to handle a crisis. We offer trained professionals who live to make your pet’s life long, happy and healthy.

How far in advance would I need to schedule your services?

In order to guaranty availability, we ask that you schedule our services as soon as possible, but we are often able to accommodate clients with as little as 24 to 48 hours notice. Nominal fees are charged for last-minute bookings with less than 24 hours notice. Holiday services should be booked at least one to two weeks in advance. Holiday services booked less than one week in advance will be subject to an additional fee.

Who will have access to my home and the keys to my home?

Pet Sitting

Each client is assigned a designated pet care specialist. This individual will be the only one who enters your home on behalf of Paws We Luv Pet Sitters®. Our pet care specialists are not allowed bring along friends or family members on their visits. The handling of your house keys involves two options. Option One allows you to arrange for the pick-up and drop-off of your keys before and after scheduled appointments. With Option Two, you would provide us two keys, one to be held by your specific pet care specialist and one to remain on file in our offices. These keys would be labeled with a discrete code and safely kept locked away. Option Two gives our frequent users added convenience while providing the safeguards they desire.

Will I get to meet my pet care specialist before I go away?

Absolutely. When you work with Paws We Luv Pet Sitters®, you become a member of our extended family for life. You will be given ample opportunity to meet with your individually assigned pet care specialist before you entrust your precious pets to our care.

Are your pet care specialists bonded and insured?

Of course. We are also members of the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters, Pet Sitters International and the Association of Professional Animal Waste Specialists. All of our employees strive to live up to high standards established by these organizations.

Will my dogs be walked together with other dogs?

No. In the interest of safety and security, each client is allotted their own specific walk time where we can focus our attention to the needs of your pet only. We have also adopted the policy of keeping our clients’ pets away from other dogs while they are in our custody to prevent fights and the transmission of diseases or parasites.

What happens if my pet becomes sick or develops an injury while I’m away?

In the event that your pet becomes sick or develops an injury, our pet care specialist will first attempt to contact you for instructions but will ultimately transport your pet to your preferred veterinarian if we deem it necessary. If you do not have a regular veterinarian, or the problem occurs after hours, we will utilize the services of our veterinarian on call or one of the many available emergency clinics with whom we are familiar. Our primary focus is on the needs of your pet. If your pet requires veterinary care, he or she will absolutely get it.

What happens in the event of a weather emergency?

Our pet care specialists are pet owners themselves and are very familiar with our area’s unpredictable weather and so are well prepared to brave weather emergencies in order to be there to meet the needs of your pets. Please be aware that we will not endanger your pet by taking them out for a walk in icy conditions or during a thunderstorm, but we will make sure they are able to relieve themselves. Prior to your trip, we will ask you for an emergency contact who can be available should your roads become completely impassable.

What if my pet care specialist has an emergency and can’t make his or her appointment with my pet?

Paws We Luv Pet Sitters® work as a team to ensure that the needs of your pet are met. Should your designated pet care specialist incur an emergency, a qualified substitute will always be available.

What happens if I’m traveling and my arrival time or date of return is delayed?

Just give us a call to inform us, and we will be happy to extend our services to your pets. If you get our answering service, we ask that you leave a number where you can be reached to ensure that we’ve received your instructions.

What if your people are unavailable at the time of my scheduled travel?

We do our best to meet the needs of our extended family, but should we be unable to accommodate your travel schedule, we will assist you in making arrangements with another accredited, reliable pet sitter.

What is your cancellation policy?

In order to receive a refund or credit, all non-holiday cancellations must be made prior to 24 hours from the first scheduled visit. Holiday services must be cancelled at least one week prior to the commencement of service. Cancellations not meeting these requirements will incur a charge of 50% of the bill for the entire amount of service booked. Please note that refunds are not given for early returns once the holiday service has begun. We also require a 50%, non-refundable deposit in order to reserve a pet care specialist for overnight home pet care.

How is billing handled and what methods of payment do you accept?

Payment is always due at the time of service, payable by cash or by check. Gratuities for excellent service are welcome. Your designated pet care specialist receives 100% of your gratuities.
